This is actually a really good question.
Put it this way: AI is like a really useful tool - kind of like a calculator or a smartphone. We don't absolutely "need" it, but it can make our lives easier and better in many ways.
AI is helpful in many ways. Here are some good things about it:
- Helps doctors find diseases faster in X-rays
- Makes cars safer with features that prevent accidents
- Helps students get extra help with homework
- Makes video games more fun and realistic
- Helps scientists predict weather better
- Can help people with disabilities do everyday tasks
But there are also some important things to think about. Here are some things to also consider with AI:
- We shouldn't rely on AI too much - like how you shouldn't use a calculator for every simple math problem
- Some jobs might change because of AI (but new jobs will also be created!)
- We need to make sure AI is used fairly and safely
- It's important that humans make the final decisions on important things, not AI
So, do we NEED Artificial Intelligence?
AI is basically having a super-smart assistant. It is helpful to have, but we don't want the assistant making all our decisions for us.
